Dancers


JP Ferreri previously danced with Freespace in Human Walls performed at St Marks Church in 2006. As a child he performed in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and recently in the movie Hairspray playing Corny Council member Joey. Other credits include performing on the Oprah Winfrey Show, The Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, and a Worldwide Commercial for Coca Cola choreographed by Karole Armitage.

Bryan Matland began dancing with Freespace Dance in the summer of 2002, taking part in such pieces as Chrysalis, In Shape and Space, and Images, as well as understudying Inner Current. After a couple years away, Bryan has been back with the company for close to 3 years. With a background in Tae Kwon Do and gymnastics, he enjoys the exploration of athleticism in dance that comes through in the choreography of Donna Scro.

Lauren Melusky is from Southern New Jersey, where she currently resides. In 2007 she graduated from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with a BFA in Dance where she performed works by Julia Ritter, Randy James, John Evans and various students. This is her first year dancing with Freespace Dance and she also is a member of VaBang! in NYC. In addition to performing, Lauren teaches high school Modern Dance at the Arts and Education Center for Monmouth County and creative movement at the Baird Community Center in South Orange. She is also involved with the NJ State Council on the Arts as an intern.

Dan Mueller Rehearsal Director of Freespace Dance, has been with the company for the last five years. Dan graduated Cum Laude from Montclair State University where he received a BFA in Dance. He has worked with choreographers such as Maxine Steinman, Pat Graney, Nancy Lushington and Shapiro and Smith. Dan is currently teaching throughout New Jersey as well as dancing with Noemarch Dance and Project Smith.

Blair Ritchie graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts. In addition to dancing with Freespace Dance, she is currently a member the Von Howard Project with Christian Von Howard. Aside from Dance, Blair is currently pursuing her other passion, Anusara Yoga. She is a certified Yoga Teacher who enjoys continuing her study in both Anusara Yoga and Rajanaka Tantra Philosophy.

Jennifer Segovia is a native of Stamford, CT, and holds a BFA in Dance from Montclair State University as well as an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Gibbs College. She has performed with Peter Pucci Plus Dancers at Bryant Park in NYC and for the half time show for the WNBA in Madison Square Garden. Jennifer has also worked with choreographers such as Shapiro & Smith, Pat Graney, Maxine Steinman and Nancy Lushington. Jennifer teaches extensively throughout the New Jersey area. This is her fifth year dancing with Freespace Dance.

Nicole Smith graduated a BFA in Dance, Summa Cum Laude, from Montclair State University May 2007, where she was the recipient of several departmental awards. The following year, she was honored to join the MSU dance faculty, and is so grateful to be continuing on her path, teaching, directing, and choreographing among her inspiring mentors. Nicole was part of Dance New Amsterdam’s first “Choreolab”in May 2008, under the guidance of Alexandra Beller. Her choreography has also been presented at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ and the Jennifer Muller Studios in NYC. Her company, project:Smith, will debut this September at the John Ryan Theater and Battery Park Stage in Brooklyn, NY, as well as at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ in October. She has performed the works of Alexandra Beller, Alwin Nikolais, Robert Battle, Maxine Steinman, Nancy Lushington, Maureen Glennon, and Joelle Van Sickle, as well as in "Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage" at Walt Disney World. A joyfully active company member of Donna Scro/Freespace Dance since September 2007, Nicole also currently dances with Pascal Rekoert's company, Flexicurve. She has been a scholarship apprentice with Jennifer Muller/The Works and just recently acquired an apprenticeship/understudy position with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.
